  • Types of Therapy we Specialize in:

  • Gestalt Language Processors (GLP)

Choose Kind Therapy provides specialized treatment for Gestalt Language Processors (GLP) using the Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) framework. We help clients move beyond scripting and repetition, guiding them towards flexible, spontaneous language. This approach honors each client's unique communication style, empowering them to express themselves authentically while building confidence in their language use.

  • Non-ableist Pragmatic Language Therapy

Choose Kind Therapy offers non-ableist pragmatic language therapy. This approach values authentic, unfiltered communication and avoids trying to "fix" perceived deficits. Instead of focusing on traditional social skills training, we nurture self-advocacy, interoception, perspective-taking, and confidence. Grounded in both current research and lived experiences, this therapy honors autonomy and individuality.

  • Self-Advocacy

Self-Advocacy is a neurodiversity affirmative approach to having open discussions about accommodations, unmasking, and more through listening, valuing, and honoring the client. The goal is to create a space of autonomy, independence, and authenticity. This approach is naturally integrated throughout all forms of intervention.

  • Feeding

Choose Kind Therapy offers Responsive Feeding Therapy (RFT). RFT is geared towards folks who are labeled as selective eaters, including those with avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). RFT facilitates the (re)discovery of internal cues, curiosity, and motivation while building skills and confidence. It is flexible, prioritizes the feeding relationship, and respects and develops autonomy.

  • Stuttering

Choose Kind Therapy views stuttering as a verbal diversity. In this paradigm shift, the therapists at Choose Kind Therapy will put less emphasis on strategies for fluent speech, or smooth speech (unless otherwise requested) and more emphasis on stuttering joyfully. We hope to empower our clients through the verbal diversity lens.

  • Gender Affirming Care

Do you feel as though your voice and/or body language does not align with who you are? Choose Kind Therapy offers low-cost gender-affirming services that is centered around you and your voice and/or body language goals.

  • Other Services we Offer:

  • Speech

Speech refers to articulation or the way your speech sounds. Often, caregivers and/or parents refer children for therapy when their children become difficult to understand to others.

  • Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD)

VCD is otherwise known as Paradoxical Vocal Fold Movement or PVFM. Not to be mistaken with Asthma, VCD or PVFM occurs when attempting taking a breath in and experiencing the inability to inhale due to vocal folds closing, preventing air to flow. This is common in athletes, type-A personalities, and may co-occur with Asthma. Treatment focuses on providing our clients with respiratory retraining techniques to facilitate ease of inhalation.

  • Parent/Caregiver Coaching

Is your 2-year-old having difficulty expressing themselves? Do you find them getting frustrated when they’re experiencing difficulty communicating? Parent and/or caregiver Coaching focuses on empowering parents and/or caregivers to provide a language-rich environment at home. Choose Kind Therapy believes the parent and/or caregiver is the expert and will provide strategies to directly address reported concerns.

  • Dynamic Communication Needs

This refers to individuals in need of an Alternative or Augmentative Communication (AAC) device. Choose Kind Therapy provides comprehensive AAC evaluations for static communication devices such as a paper board to point to words or electronic AAC devices such as LAMP on an iPad. Choose Kind Therapy works with a local assistive technology consultant to determine reimbursement eligibility for electronic devices. Treatment focuses on training parents/caregivers and AAC users to independently modify and utilize their communication device.

No Surprises Act

The No Surprises Act requires speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to provide a Good Faith Estimate to every new and established client who is either seeking treatment as self-pay or is considered out-of-network. A Good Faith Estimate informs clients of the cost of care they will be receiving. Read more here.
